To Wed Or Not To Wed? Jamie Foxx Sparks Marriage Debate After Saying It’s Not For Him

Much like Fat Joe’s viral affirmation on the topic of pricing, the traditions of yesterday are definitely not the same ones held up by people today.

Oscar-winning actor Jamie Foxx brought that conversation to the institution of marriage after publicly confirming that, at his current age of 53 years old, walking down the aisle is something he still doesn’t see for himself in the immediate or foreseeable future.

During an interview with E!’s Daily Pop to promote his new book, Act Like You Got Some Sense, Foxx spoke candidly when asked to confirm his stance on marriage, telling co-host Erin Lim Rhodes that he isn’t “cookie cutter,” and further going on to explain by adding, “the 2.5 children, the wood paneling on the station wagon and the cottage — I didn’t think that was for me.”

Jamie then went on to bring up his daughters, 27-year-old Corinne and 12-year-old Anelise, as the core reasoning behind his wedding woes, quoting his oldest by stating, “Growing up, Corinne was like, ‘People marry and that’s what they have – my friends,’ but then a lot of those marriages ended up not doing well as the kids got older. Unfortunately, we saw the kids get fractured from their families. Us, we actually came together more. So I don’t know what that is, I just know that it is different but it’s a whole lot of love.”

He further confirmed that neither of his kids are concerned with his marital status or even talk to him about it, saying that they simply “love their daddy” and as a result it allows him to “keep it moving.”

While wedding bells might not be ringing anytime soon for Jamie Foxx, he sure did spark an interesting debate on social media on the subject at hand. Keep scrolling to see some of the responses to his remarks on marriage below:

No Boyee! Flavor Flav Arrested In Vegas On Domestic Battery Charges

Public Enemy member and reality TV icon Flavor Flav is usually one of the most humorous personalities in the entire biz, but unfortunately he’s currently dealing with a serious allegation that’s far from anything worth laughing about.

The former Flavor Of Love star was arrested on a domestic violence incident earlier this month in Las Vegas as reported today by TMZ. Henderson PD charged Flav, born William Jonathan Drayton Jr., with a misdemeanor charge of domestic battery after he allegedly attacked a woman and attempted to take one of her belongings.

Here’s how TMZ describes the ordeal, which occurred on the night of October 4:

“We’re told cops responded to a call about a domestic disturbance and when they got there Flav was placed into custody and taken to the Henderson Detention Center.

According to the criminal complaint, obtained by TMZ, Flav allegedly poked his finger on the alleged victim’s nose, grabbed her, threw her down and grabbed a phone out her hand.

The City Attorney tells us Flavor Flav is officially charged with misdemeanor battery constituting domestic violence.”

Flav’s attorney, David Chesnoff, told TMZ exclusively that all may not be what it seems, saying, “there are often 2 sides to the story and we will explain our side in the courtroom and not in the media.”

It seems Flavor Flav is already looking to put the incident behind him, choosing today to promote on Twitter the fact that he’s been alcohol-free for one full year. He did include the hashtag #dontbelievethehype in his message as well, so it appears he’s also looking to declare his innocence in the case.

We’ll wait for the full details before passing judgement, but we hope things aren’t as bad for the VH1 all-star as they appear to be.

Beyoncé & Jay-Z Bring Blue Ivy On Their ‘Date Night’ In New Tiffany & Co. Ad

Following Tiffany & Co. announcing Jay-Z and Beyoncé as their latest brand ambassadors earlier this summer, many have been anticipating to see exactly what it will include and the power couple’s involvement in the campaign overall.

We now have yet another chapter released in The Carters’ partnership with Tiffany’s, this time taking us on a “Date Night” with first born Blue Ivy Carter making an appearance as well.

The mini movie clocks in at just under two minutes, and sees Jay and Bey cruising through New York City in a very film noir-inspired aesthetic that continues to build on the overarching “About Love” theme. The Lemonade pop diva can be seen playing the “he loves me, he loves me not” game with herself, plucking lovingly at a sunflower, shortly before her equally iconic husband pops in to confirm that, in fact, “he loves her.”

After finding a good slice of New York pizza and washing it down with “real” champagne, the scene is stolen by Blue Ivy as she enters the car and completes their moment of showcasing true Black family love. Beyoncé also lip syncs along to Paul Anka’s timeless 1959 song “Put Your Head On My Shoulder” — no, not for a TikTok challenge! — while snuggling into Hov’s arms as he sits beside her. The clip ends with a kiss to seal their affection for one another, and it doesn’t hurt that music’s favorite power couple looks decadently fly in all-black apparel the entire time.

San Francisco School Board Members Targeted In California’s Latest Recall Attempt

Philadelphia Woman Raped On Train While Onlookers Recorded Without Helping

Sexual assault for anyone can be an extremely traumatizing experience with lasting psychological effects that can take years to recover from, if ever.

One unfortunate woman in Philadelphia not only had to endure being raped on a commuter train, but also ended up being assaulted on a whole other level after witnesses thought it was more important to record the attack rather than intervene and stop it from happening altogether.

LIKE US ON FACEBOOK. FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM & TWITTER. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE.

The heinous crime occurred last Wednesday in North Philadelphia, with authorities saying a man harassed the woman for more than 40 minutes as he groped and eventually raped her while dozens held their phones up. Police say they don’t believe one person tried to dial 911.

Read more details in the case below, via AP News:

“Both the man and woman got on the train at the same stop Wednesday night in North Philadelphia. Officers pulled the man off of the woman at the last stop. They responded within about three minutes of a 911 call from a transportation authority employee, authorities said.

“What we want is everyone to be angry and disgusted and to be resolute about making the system safer,” SEPTA Police Chief Thomas J. Nestel III said at the news conference.

Arrest records show Fiston Ngoy, 35, was charged with rape and related offenses.

The affidavit of arrest for Ngoy detailed times of the assault, including that during those 40 minutes the woman appears to repeatedly push Ngoy away.”

Although authorities have yet to release the surveillance video, Nestel confirms witnesses were in fact present and chose not to help, adding in his statement, “I can tell you that people were holding their phone up in the direction of this woman being attacked.” The victim was approached by her attacker just after 9:15PM, and the actual assault began once he started ripping her pants down at around 9:52PM. Police intervened roughly around 10PM after entering the SEPTA’s busy 69th Street terminal.

After his arrest, accused attacker Fiston Ngoy told police that he actually knew the victim and it was a consensual act although he had trouble remembering her name. He’s currently in custody on $180,000 bail.

While many of us who commute regularly can admit to seeing something and choosing the “not my business” approach, there comes a point where common human decency should kick in without question or reservation to help someone that’s being physically, verbally and/or sexually assaulted. Let us know your opinions.

Grammys Release Inclusion Requirement To Ensure Diverse Show

LOS ANGELES (AP) — The Grammys will stick to its word with the public release of the full inclusion rider to ensure equity and inclusion in hiring on all levels of production for next year’s ceremony.

The Recording Academy released on Tuesday an eight-page document detailing the rider’s purposes and objectives. The agreement requires producers to recruit and hire more diverse candidates backstage and in front of the camera for the 64th annual awards ceremony on Jan. 31

Academy CEO Harvey Mason jr. said he’s proud of the initiative and hopes the concept can “move the needle.” The academy announced the adoption of the inclusion rider in August.

“The inclusion rider is something that will provide an opportunity for people that may not have had one before,” he said in a recent interview. “That’s really important to me. I wouldn’t be here if someone didn’t give me an opportunity. I’m trying to make pathways and make sure there’s areas for people to work into a system and climb their way through.”

The rider requires Grammy producers to audition, interview and hire onstage and offstage people from groups that have been historically and systematically excluded from the industry. Riders are addendums to contracts.

The academy’s initiative was created in partnership with several groups including the Color of Change; inclusion rider co-authors Kalpana Kotagal and Fanshen Cox DiGiovanni; Ryan Butler, the founding director of Warner Music/Blavatnik Center for Music Business at Howard University; and Valeisha Butterfield Jones, co-president of the Recording Academy.

Kotagal, a civil rights attorney, said the rider includes four key elements that will drive improvement for representation and equity. She said there’s a commitment to diversifying hiring pools, benchmarks and targets for hiring, collection and analysis of applicant and hiring data and strict accountability measures.

“By committing to use the inclusion rider for its 2022 production, the Grammy Awards is not only ensuring a more equitable and diverse hiring process, it is also setting an important standard for inclusivity and representation at award shows moving forward,” she said in a statement.

Mason echoed Kotagal’s sentiments of holding people accountable and being committed to put in the “real work” to help create a pipeline for diverse talent. He wants to function under the idea of making sure the academy is “inclusive, diverse and equitable.”

The term “inclusion rider” was brought into the spotlight in 2018 when Frances McDormand mentioned it during her best actress Oscar acceptance speech. Michael B. Jordan, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Paul Feig and Warner Bros. followed suit by pledging to use inclusion riders in their production projects.

“You’re not going to find an organization that cares more about diversity and changing and heading in that direction than us,” Mason said. “We are dedicated to that work. I hope we can kind of be a leader in that space and make sure we’re doing it in a way that people look and say ‘Oh, the academy got that right.’”

Report: Haiti’s 400 Mawozo Gang Seeks $17M For Kidnapped US Missionaries

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) — A gang that kidnapped 17 members of a U,S.-based missionary group has demanded a $17 million ransom for them, according to Haiti’s justice minister, as quoted by the Wall Street Journal.

LIKE US ON FACEBOOK. FOLLOW US ON INSTAGRAM & TWITTER. SUBSCRIBE TO OUR YOUTUBE.

Justice Minister Liszt Quitel said the gang was demanding $1 million per person. Quitel did not immediately return messages for comment, but he also confirmed the figure to the New York Times. The Journal said he identified the ages of the abducted children as 8 months and 3, 6, 14 and 15 years.

A wave of kidnappings prompted a protest strike that shuttered businesses, schools and public transportation in a new blow to Haiti’s anemic economy, and unions and other groups vowed to continue the shutdown Tuesday.

FBI agents and other U.S. officials are helping Haitian authorities hunt for the 12 adults and five children linked to the Christian Aid Ministries in Ohio who were kidnapped Saturday during a trip to visit an orphanage.

It is the largest reported kidnapping of its kind in recent years, with Haitian gangs growing more brazen and abductions spiking as the country tries to recover from the July 7 assassination of President Jovenel Moïse and a magnitude 7.2 earthquake that struck southern Haiti on Aug. 14 and killed more than 2,200 people.

“We are calling on authorities to take action,” said Jean-Louis Abaki, a moto taxi driver who joined the strike Monday to decry killings and kidnappings in the hemisphere’s poorest nation.

With the usually chaotic streets of Haiti’s capital quiet and largely empty Monday, Abaki said that if Prime Minister Ariel Henry and National Police Chief Léon Charles want to stay in power, “they have to give the population a chance at security.”

Haitian police told The Associated Press that the abduction of the 16 Americans and one Canadian was carried out by the 400 Mawozo gang, a group with a long record of killings, kidnappings and extortion. In April, a man who claimed to be the gang’s leader told a radio station that it was responsible for abducting five priests, two nuns and three relatives of one of the priests that month. They were later released.

At least 328 kidnappings were reported to Haiti’s National Police in the first eight months of 2021, compared with a total of 234 for all of 2020, said a report last month by the United Nations Integrated Office in Haiti.

Gangs have been accused of kidnapping schoolchildren, doctors, police officers, bus passengers and others as they grow more powerful and demand ransoms ranging from a couple hundred dollars to millions of dollars.

Ned Price, the U.S. State Department’s spokesman, said U.S. officials have been in constant contact with Haiti’s National Police, the missionary group and the victims’ relatives.

“This is something that we have treated with the utmost priority since Saturday,” he said, adding that officials are doing “all we can to seek a quick resolution to this.”

U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric said the rise in gang violence has affected relief efforts in Haiti. He said the U.N. resident and humanitarian coordinator reported that “violence, looting, road blockades and the persistent presence of armed gangs all pose obstacles to humanitarian access. The situation is further complicated by very serious fuel shortages and the reduced supply of goods.”

Dujarric said that Haiti’s government should redouble efforts to reform and strengthen the police department to address public safety and that all crimes must be investigated.

Christian Aid Ministries said the kidnapped group included six women, six men and five children, including a 2-year-old. A sign on the door at the organization’s headquarters in Berlin, Ohio, said it was closed due to the kidnapping situation.

Among those kidnapped were four children and one of their parents from a Michigan family, their pastor told The Detroit News. The youngest from the family is under 10, said minister Ron Marks, who declined to identify them. They arrived in Haiti earlier this month, he said.

A pair of traveling Christians stopped by the organization’s headquarters Monday with two young children to drop off packages for impoverished nations. Tirtzah Rarick, originally of California, said she and a friend prayed on Sunday with those who had relatives among the abductees.

“Even though it’s painful and it provokes us to tears that our friends and relatives, our dear brothers and sisters, are suffering right now in a very real physical, mental and emotional way, it is comforting to us that we can bring these heavy burdens to the God that we worship,” she said.

News of the kidnappings spread swiftly in and around Holmes County, Ohio, hub of one of the nation’s largest populations of Amish and conservative Mennonites, said Marcus Yoder, executive director of the Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center in nearby Millersburg, Ohio.

Christian Aid Ministries is supported by conservative Mennonite, Amish and related groups in the Anabaptist tradition.

The organization was founded in the early 1980s and began working in Haiti later that decade, said Steven Nolt, professor of history and Anabaptist studies at Elizabethtown College in Pennsylvania. The group has year-round mission staff in Haiti and several countries, he said, and it ships religious, school and medical supplies throughout the world.

Conservative Anabaptists, while disagreeing over technology and other issues, share traditions such as modest, plain clothing, separation from mainstream society, closely disciplined congregations and a belief in nonresistance to violence.

The Amish and Mennonite communities in Holmes County have a close connection with missionary organizations serving Haiti.

Every September at the Ohio Haiti Benefit Auction, handmade furniture, quilts, firewood and tools are sold, and barbecue chicken and Haitian beans and rice are dished up. The event typically brings in about $600,000 that is split between 18 missionary groups, said Aaron Miller, one of the organizers.
